Our History

For over one-hundred years, Lutheran Social Services has offered dedicated programming to central and north-central Ohio families at every stage of life. LSS Senior Living began providing programming for seniors in Columbus in the mid-1960's. Years later, a community designed and built for active adults was developed as Kensington Place, while The Good Shepherd joined the LSS family in 1997. Lutheran Village in Ashland opened in 2000 and began providing care to seniors in the region.

Today, LSS Senior Living remains focused on providing outstanding care for older adults in our three unique communities.

Our Mission

At LSS, our mission is to create a better world by serving people in need. We do this by offering a continuum of services to lend a helping hand to our neighbors, including seniors, adults and families.

LSS values are faith-based, regardless of religious background or beliefs, under the guidance of the scriptural principle of “love your neighbor as yourself.” We act in an ethical, honest, transparent and respectful manner in how we treat one another and those we serve.
